Kelp Gull↟↡ - Hiya 😊 Today we have a gorgeous Kelp Gull. I am unsure how to tell the difference (if there is a way) between male and female, as i have not studied sea birds very much, due to the fact that the Writers Camo was the first time i’d photographed sea birds. This photo is from my 1300D and was taken at my schools Creative Writers camp. This was just after akayla.moylon fished my lens cap out of the ocean 😂 Thanks. - ↟↡ - #canon #canoncamera #canoneos1300d #canon1300d #eoseries #canonaustralia #canonphotography #canonphotographer #mycanonlife #amaturephotography #amateurphotographer #photographer #photography #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotographer #naturephotography #naturephotographer #tasmanianwildlife #wildlifeaustralia #australianwildlife #australianphotographer #tasmanianphotographer #birdsofaustralia #wildlife #pocket_birds #wildlife_tasmania #youngnaturephotographers

This video of a Gang-gang cockatoo (Callocephalon fimbriatum) was captured by Jan Wagener jan_wegener_. ‘These guys are pretty lazy, instead of picking off single berries they always bite off a whole branch, hold it in their foot and then eat the berries,” says Jan. “Pretty good skills with their foot!” The males of these cockatoos are recognisable by their wispy red crest - the female crest is grey - and are found in the cooler and wetter forests and woodlands of Australia, particularly alpine bushland. They are also faunal emblem for the ACT, and utter long rasping screeches almost similar to a rusty hinge (much like the constant useless jabber of some politicians we know!). Thanks for sharing your video with us Jan! #australia #australianbush #australianwildlife #australianbirds #wildlifeofaustralia #cockatoo #ganggangcockatoo #australianbirdsofinstagram

Did that rock taste good? There are lizards everywhere outback. Often sunning themselves on the road. They don't even move when you stop to take a photo . #bluetongue #lizard #outbacktracks #outbackroads #outbackroadtrip #offroadadventure #australianwildlife

One of my favourite lifers of the past few years was this red-backed kingfisher. I've been waiting a while to see one and when I finally did I was not only taken by surprise but I also had the good fortune to see it from its far better side. They do look rather more plain from the front. #redbackedkingfisher #kingfisher #bird #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #birdstagram #birdsofinstagram #instabird #bestbirdshots #your_best_birds #eye_spy_birds #australianbirds #birdsofaustralia #australianwildlife #wildlifephotography #wildlife #naturephotography #nature #naturelovers

Echidna on the snow near the Snowy River last Saturday. As I got close it took up it's defensive position and buried it's beak into the snow. However, it could not keep it there for too long presumably due to the cold. Echidnas hibernate in winter and may occasionally be seen in spring on the snow.  But not common. Apparently there is a record of at least one having been seen walking straight into a fast-flowing stream during the thaw and swimming across with just the beak protruding from the surface like a snorkel. Thanks to my friend Brian for the information. #echidna #australianwildlife #visitnsw #australianalps #snowshoeing #kosciuszkonationalpark #charlottespass #snowyriver #snowymountainsnsw
