“DanceXcel is a warm and friendly environment for beginners to more advance dancers. For Audrey, I think it has taught her how to be part of a team. It's given her confidence, and dance is a way to loose her penned up energy from sitting in school all day. We love the teachers and the other parents/students. We're all there for the same reason to see our kids succeed at something they love.” -Leah, Xpress team dancer Audrey’s Mom. #dancexcelmn We want to see your dancer succeed at doing something they love! #lovethis #bepartofsomethinggreat #signuptoday

This one was take at Franz Josef Glacier National Park in New Zealand. This water is ice-cold, since it’s flowing downstream directly from the glaciers that are melting at a very rapid pace. Our little world is such a beautiful place and it’s up to each of us to play a part in doing what we can to take care of it. The first step is educating yourself about the environment and staying up to speed about conservation efforts that are near and dear to your heart. Follow bepartofsomethinggreat to do just that! In this little corner of Instagram, something great is coming. So go ahead- take the getting-involved-plunge! Just like this guy. 10 facts 👇 • To help create awarness on "Endangered Species Day" we have replaced our usual extinct post with this post containing 10 facts regarding "endangered species". We hope you find it as interesting as we did 😁🐆🦏 • 1) An endangered species is one whose numbers are so small that it is at risk of extinction. • 2) A species is defined as endangered or threatened when it suffers from these factors: damage to its habitat for recreational, or entertainment purposes disease or predation of the species and hazards to the continued life of the species. • 3) A species is declared extinct after many years of not being spotted. Because it takes so long to define an entire species as extinct, it is probable that there are many species already gone that we are unaware of. • 4) Extinction is a natural phenomenon, it occurs at a natural “background” rate of about one to five species per year. Scientists estimate we’re now losing species at 1,000 to 10,000 times the “background” rate, with dozens going extinct every day. • 5) As many as 30 to 50 percent of all species are possibly heading toward extinction by mid-century. • 6) 99% of currently threatened species are at risk from human activities, primarily those driving habitat loss, introduction of exotic species, and global warming. • 7) The Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA) protects registered endangered species by removing them from the “take” list, which makes it unlawful for a person to shoot, harm, capture, trap, or attempt any such actions to the species. • 8) Ultimately, the ESA strives to recover species from the endangered list by restoring their ecological health until they no longer need protection. • 9) The World Wildlife Organization focuses on saving certain species that help sustain other species. They protect wildlife such as pandas, whales, rhinos, marine turtles, primates, polar bears, and big cats. • 10) Freshwater ecosystems are home to more than 100,000 known species of plants and animals, and are now one of the most endangered habitats in the world as a result of human development, pollution, and climate change. • 📖 source: www.dosomething.org 🤗 • 📸: thanks to jemibamoo

The Marine Iguana. • The Marine Iguana (Amblyrhynchus cristatus), also known as the Galápagos marine iguana, is a species of iguana found only on the Galápagos Islands(Ecuador) that has the ability, unique among modern lizards, to forage in the sea, making it a marine reptile. This iguana feeds almost exclusively on algae and large males dive to find this food source, while females and smaller males feed during low tide in the intertidal zone. They mainly live in colonieson rocky shores where they warm after visiting the relatively cold water or intertidal zone, but can also be seen in marshes, mangrove and beaches. Marine iguanas vary in appearance between the different islands and several subspecies are recognized. Although relatively large numbers remain and it is locally common, this protected species is considered threatened. • 📽: Courtesy of pelayosalinas 👌👏 • #bepartofsomethinggreat #dosomething #animalfriends #dinosaur #reptilelovers #greeniguana #wildlifeconservation #threatenedspecies #marineiguana #godzilla #reptilelover #wildlifeonearth #oceanconservation #animalstyle #wildlifeplanet #reptilelove #wildlifeaddicts #reptilelife #wildlife_perfection #wildlifelovers #wildlife_seekers #iguana #threatened #animalsaddict #iguanasofinstagram #iguanalovers #galapagos #galapagosislands #iguanas #marineconservation

The Vinegaroon 🦂 • Thelyphonida is an arachnid order comprising invertebrates commonly known as whip scorpions or vinegaroons (also spelled vinegarroons and vinegarones). They are often called uropygids in the scientific community based on an alternative name for the order, Uropygi (which may then also include the order Schizomida). The name "whip scorpion" refers to their resemblance to true scorpions and possession of a whiplike tail. "Vinegaroon" is based on their ability when attacked to discharge an offensive liquid which contains acetic acid, producing a vinegar-like smell. Whip scorpions range from 25 to 85 mm in length, with most species having a body no longer than 30 mm the largest species, of the genus Mastigoproctus, reaching 85 mm. Because of their legs, claws, and "whip", though, they can appear much larger, and the heaviest specimen weighed was 12.4 grams. Like the related orders Schizomida, Amblypygi, and Solifugae, the vinegaroons use only six legs for walking, with the first two legs serving as antennae-like sensory organs. All species also have very large scorpion-like pedipalps (pincers) but there is an additional large spine on each palpal tibia. They have one pair of eyes at the front of the cephalothorax and three on each side of the head, a pattern also found in scorpions. Vinegaroons have no venom glands, but they have glands near the rear of their abdomen that can spray a combination of acetic acid and caprylic acid when they are bothered. Whip scorpions are found in tropical and subtropicalareas excluding Europe and Australia. • 📸: tirzaalvina1303 🤗 • #vinegaroon #animalsaddict #insect_addict #insect_perfection #bughead #arachnids #bugsofinstagram #insecto #insectphotography #bugs_are_us #bugaboo #kings_insects #animalstyle #scorpionpose #insectagram #whipscorpion #arachnidsofinstagram #buggy #insectsofinstagram #arachnid #animale #invertebrates #animalphotos #insects_of_our_world #dosomething #arthropoda #animalfriends #bepartofsomethinggreat #scorpions #bugeye
