Intermittent fasting has been shown to create a number of beneficial processes in the body. Long-term fasting such as 24 hours or greater has been shown to be even more efficacious. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have been intermittent fasting on Saturdays for the past eight weeks now. Since I do it so infrequently, this is actually the first week where I don’t feel as if the hunger is bothering me at all. To be honest, the main challenge is beginning to crave specific foods throughout the fasting period. Are usually fast between 14 and 16 hours which creates about a 6 to 8 hour eating window for myself. I only fast in the morning since that is what works best for me. I would probably go insane being allowed to have one or two giant meals in the early morning and then not be able to again until the following morning.The goal is to condense you’re eating windows into short periods in a day and to eat the normal calories you would daily in that shortened window. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Fasting gives your stomach the opportunity to rest and heal itself as well as replenish some of it’s flora in order to be most efficient at digesting food. This further can help to significantly reduce inflammation in the body through several different processes and inflammation has been shown to be one of the number one killer’s in human beings. There are numerous methods to intermittent fast and John Berardi from Precision Nutrition has tried several if not every potential method he created a free ebook that I highly recommend you read to learn more about the topic before attempting.
