It's time for some #MondayMobility to get us up and moving for the week ahead🏃‍♀️ • We're all guilty of slouching sometimes when we're working/studying, or being hunched over our smartphone or tablet.📱💻This can cause our shoulders to roll forwards and inwards, our chest muscles to tighten up, and our thoracic spine to become stiff, which can all lead to shoulder and upper back problems. • Try incorperating these 3 simple exercises into your daily routine or before a workout, to help increase your mobility, improve upper body posture and reduce the risk of upper limb injuries👍 • Hold the stretch for 30-60secs and carry out at least 10 reps of each of the other 2 exercises. **Focus on keeping your core muscles braced and your spine/pelvis in a neutral position (not arching your lower back) throughout.** • #sportstherapy #injuryprevention #MondayMobility #foamroller #thoracicspine #shoulders #exercises #mobility #posture #reducepain #rehabilitation

We know that shoulder mobility can be a limiting factor for a lot of people, especially if they want to be able to do exercises like military presses, pull-ups, overhead squats, etc. - We’ve got two drills for you today that help to address limited overhead mobility! - 1️⃣Foam rolling the lats! Your lats are big muscles that travel down the sides of your backs. They are responsible for depression, adduction, extension, and internal rotation of the shoulder. With all of these roles, it’s important that they are well cared for, and foam rolling is one way to address the tissue quality of the lats in order to ensure they’re in proper, working order! - 2️⃣Hooklying weighted overhead mobilizations! Once you’ve improved your tissue quality with some foam rolling, we love this mobilization to start increasing the range of motion overhead. Lie on your back with your knees bent and feet flat. Grab a very light weight or even a can of soup (something under 5lbs) and start with your arm pointed straight up to the ceiling. Set your rib cage down (see my demonstration in the video on the next slide) and then slowly lower the arm overhead toward the floor without allowing the ribs to flare.
