We've been eating our weight in blueberries this season. For the first many years, we barely ate any of our fruit...or veggies for that matter. We needed to sell them. We were desperate for the money. We just lived off of peanut butter, peanut butter, and more peanut butter. I've heard many farmers share in this same experience during their first years of farming. As each year passes, we've gotten better about enjoying our harvest. I still remember the first bowl of berries (that weren't seconds) that I ate. When folks say to us that we are 'living the dream' I often think about our access to organic fresh fruit and think 'yeah, we are leaving the dream.' (This is the number one reason i refuse to cut down our small stone fruit orchard that could Never pay for itself) #fruitfarmers #organicfruit #blueberryseason

We are back in the United States🇺🇸! This week we’ll be touring the fertile farms and majestic landscapes of rural #Virginia. With more than 44,800 farms, agriculture is the state’s largest private industry and one of the most dynamic economic sector. We are excited to be here learning from Virginian producers on how they are cultivating a thriving rural development model!

Located on a hilltop just outside of Charlottesville, Cater Mountain Orchard is one of #Virginia’s most famous #apple 🍏and #peach 🍑 farm. During our visit, we had the chance to pick some fresh peaches as well as learn how they’re transforming fruits into delicious value-added products like jams, sauces and ciders. 🇺🇸🍑🇺🇸🍑🇺🇸🍑🇺🇸
