More often than not we have pizza on Fridays. It started when my oldest was quite young and we used to buy the make-at-home Chef Boyardee Cheese Pizza Kits. From there we expanded to frozen pizzas and take out. . Now that we’ve changed our way of eating pizzas are made the skillet pizza way, with flatbreads, using low carb crusts, or some sort of homemade fat head dough. One thing we have relied on this whole time is jarred sauce. I haven’t become brave enough to whip up my own. Plus it’s much easier to track your carbs, etc. with pre-made versions. . The whole family has given the raoshomemade Pizza Sauce a thumbs up. Tastes great and low in carbs. Then while I was at the store I spotted this Sensitive Marinara Sauce. Would you believe It has even less carbs than the pizza sauce? . A half cup serving of the marinara is 3 carbs. A quarter cup of the pizza sauce is 2 carbs. At first glance it might seem as the pizza sauce has fewer carbs. But the serving size of the marinara is twice that of the pizza sauce. . Two put it on equal terms a 1/4 cup serving of each: — Marinara = 1.5 Carbs — Pizza Sauce = 2 Carbs That .5 carb difference may not seem like much, but if I want to use extra sauce on my zoodles or make a dish that requires a half cup of sauce rather than a quarter cup, those half carbs can add up quick. . The taste of each differs, but it’s easy to add oregano, Italian herbs, or a Pizza Blend Seasoning to the marinara when needed. . Value wise you get 11 ounces more for only a slightly higher price. This was dinner last night! Sooo tasty! Yes, I made more twice baked cauliflower mash! I think it may be a problem to have too much of it for me though, as I am retaining water so much! I'm up over 2lbs in 2 days, which is from retaining so much water! Intermittent Fasting won’t just magically make you lose weight. If you eat all of your calories within a smaller window of time then you’re just more likely to eat less. If you manage to eat the same number of calories or more then not much will change . Of course, there are other benefits of IF that are still being investigated but they won’t make you actually lose weight without being in a caloric deficit . Personally, I like this method because I’m not hungry in the morning and like only having 2 meals to plan, rather than 3 or 4. At the end of the day, as long as you eat less than what you burn, you’ll lose weight. It just has to be done consistently 😊 . If you choose to do IF then your eating window can be whatever suits your schedule. Ideally, try to incorporate your sleep into the Fasting window and your workout inside of, or right before your Eating window👌🏼 . Some mornings I wake up and think about intermittent fasting. This morning I knew I was hungry, but caught myself thinking about ignoring my body’s wants in order to participate in this trend. While I respect those who participate in this diet, it forces you to ignore your body’s hunger cues, and honestly I’m not convinced it works for a petite person like me who already eats well. I had a downward spiral this past week. I’m in college, so Keto is already a little difficult (I try to not let that stop me) and I just hadn’t had the motivation to cook food. One thing led to another and I was eating over 100 grams of carbs every day this week. I knew it was bad because I felt awful every time I finished eating and every morning waking up with brain fog. But now it’s time to get back after Keto and remember why I started it in the first place. A lot of my post are about me messing up on the Keto diet and this post isn’t any different from those. I post these not just for my own motivation or because it’s part of my journey even though those are both good reasons, but I want the people who are just starting the Keto diet or who have fallen victim to carbs once again to know that it is okay. We are all humans. Humans are NOT perfect 24/7 and if you are then more power to you and God Bless you.
