I’ve just been feeling great lately ☺️ . Actually I’ve been sick for welllllllll over a week so not *great* per say, but my training has been so fun and fresh lately that I just never ever get bored and that makes me really look forward to working out every single day. “I want to lose weight.” . . . I hear this 9 times out of 10 during my consultations. At which point I’m quick to specify if they just want to lose weight or do they want to reduce body fat weight? Because you can be skinny and have high levels of body fat. . Of course most people want to look slim and ‘toned’ and have their muscles showing, so the original ‘weight loss’ goal becomes a body recomposition goal—decrease body fat + increase muscle. Their weight may not even change. . For example if a 70kg person were to reduce their body fat weight down by 3kg’s and simultaneously add 3kgs of lean muscle, there will be zero change in gross weight. But the difference in the way the body will look will be chalk and cheese. . . . So know that not all weight is treated equal. And none of this “but muscle weighs more than fat” crap - a kilo of fat weighs exactly the same as a kilo of muscle. Fat just takes up more room than muscle, which is a harder and denser product that fat. . . . Big shout out to my client Gavin who’s quads are looking amazing! All due to lowering his body fat levels through diet and cardio as well as weight training to increase lean muscle size. At a spritely 50-something years, he’s in great shape!

🔥HOW TO GET STRONGER 👇🏼 . . Progressive Overload 👉🏼 making small improvements to your lifts or training over time. / The first video shown is where I’m at now. The last video is where I started. 1️⃣3x5 @ 235 # 2️⃣3x5 @ 225 # 3️⃣3x5 @ 205 # 4️⃣5x3 @ 225 # . I could barely hit 3 reps at 225 # when I started. I increased the weight each week. And now I’m doin 5 reps at 235 #. / How can you implement this to your own routine? 👇🏼 Every 1-2 weeks you can do 1 of 3 things... • increase the weight, reps, or amount of sets you do for an exercise • stay at the same weight but improve your form and control during the movement • decrease amount of time between sets • make small and steady changes . . ❌You DONT need to do new and crazy exercises every week to make progress. ❌You DONT need to increase your weight or sets every week. / If you notice that your lifts at that weight are becoming faster or easier to do 👉🏼 then it’s time to up the weight! .
