The simplest way to destress is to breathe deeply. As you breathe deeply the brain receives a message to calm down and in turn sends a message out to the body to calm down. Before you start structured breathing exercises (Pranayama) one must first practice deep breathing. Oh the intricacies of weight loss. It is simple in the fact that it is literally calories in, calories out. But that process is what is complex. You can control your calories in, but your calories out depends on a multitude of factors. Physiologically, your hormones may be ruining your weight loss efforts. Cortisol from chronic stress in the body will hold onto fat. A dysregulated insulin response can do the same. A low functioning thyroid also the same. Perhaps you are just miscalculating your diet intake and physical activity levels? Unfortunately, you can count your calories as much as you want, but if your hormones are off kilter - it may be a waste of time! Happy hormones = Happy body. But also remember weight loss and health are not always correlated. You can be losing weight and be unhealthy, and you can gain weight and be healthy. “Weight” is an independent factor that (yes) can improve your health, but not always. Focusing on our nutrition and what is going on in our body is a “healthier” approach (to me) than focusing on how much you are pushing against gravity 😉

This has taken a while to feel true. My first few weeks AF were torture. I felt terrible, even after a full night sleep. I had no energy for the gym.
