Meal prep is so essential in my routine to ensure I am eating healthy, balanced, interesting & delicious meals, each meal. It takes less than 2 hours & is a great time to listen to a podcast or dance in the kitchen. . Meal prep takes the stress out of "what am I gonna cook for dinner?", saves you money from buying impulsive meals, is healthier, you know what's in your food, homemade food is so nourishing, makes you feel accomplished & brings you closer to your goals. . One sure fire way to help kids get familiar with a new food is to get them involved in growing that food and then preparation/cooking. Over the weekend I took my kids strawberry picking (something we do every season) and they just love it. My one year old has only ever sucked or chewed on strawberries and then spat them out (perfectly fine and part of how she explores and comes to accept a new food). At the strawberry farm however, the novelty of picking ripe strawberries from the bush meant she ate strawberry after strawberry. I’ve had similar experiences with the tomato’s we grow in our garden. If you want to encourage your kids to eat more fruit and veges it has to start before the food reaches the table. Growing the food, helping to pick out Fruit and veges at the supermarket, cutting and preparing the food all help to familiarise them with the food and puts them well on the path to possibly trying it and down the track eating it. It takes time for fussy eaters to develop an acceptance for new foods and it often takes very little steps. Sent via planoly #planoly
