Yesterday afternoon consisted of a physical therapy session that left me sweating 😓 BUT it was also the first time in a year where I could go home and stand in the kitchen for over an hour without pain!! I was able to cook dinner, eat, and clean with no pain. That has been my biggest hurdle with eating lately because I didn’t want to cook. I'm PUMPED to announce this week's Wednesday Warrior is: Taylor Playforth 🐝❤️ Tay and I have been good friends for some time now. Our paths first crossed in the nurse’s office during our daily lunch injection. We were among the few who would leave class early to get a dose of insulin before lunch, so we instantly became Diabetes Buddies and friends. • Taylor has an adventurous soul that cannot be tamed by diabetes. She has traveled to numerous countries around the world and is currently living in Oahu, Hawaii. She is a full-time student studying marine biology, a wife, a momma-to-be, and a complete Dia-Warrior. • She has been fighting her war for 18 years and she doesn’t let Diabetes stop her from living her life to the fullest. Are you doing everything you can to avoid injury?! . Warm up: Make sure those muscles are warm before starting activity. Get your heart rate up and blood pumping to those muscles. . Improve flexibility: Lacking flexibility can put you at risk for certain injuries. Be sure to make this a priority. . Use Proper Techniques: Don't power through an exercise just to get to the amount of reps you wanted to accomplish. Once your form starts to give, you're done. . Train At Your Level: Do no try to accomplish more than your body is ready for. Work up to higher loads instead of jumping right to them. . Take Time Off: Training everyday may not allow your muscles enough time to recover. 🛑STOP BACK STIFFNESS⤵️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The cat-cow exercise is a great way to get a stiff or tight back moving on those tough mornings when you feel like your back is stuck in concrete⤵️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your back (lumbar spine and thoracic spine) can develop stiffness for several reasons including poor posture, injuries, and poor technique⤵️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This exercise was a staple in my physical therapy after my lower back injury. DIRECTIONS: ⤵️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1️⃣ On your hands and knees curl your back upwards keeping your neck and lower body relaxed⤵️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2️⃣ Arch your back down towards the floor and create a rhythmic motion switching between steps 1 and 2⤵️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I like to do 15-20 reps or enough to make you feel more relaxed and prepared to go about your day, especially my fellow students spending long periods of time sitting in desks😶 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It looks wack, yes. But don’t knock it till you try it👊🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (Shoutout to Embree for stealing my phone to catch me mid-set👀)

GOOD STORY I FOUND. Swipe left <—. It’s important when coming back from injury to take your time. Go slow. People who tell you they are always injured is because they don’t take the time to let the body heal and don’t do what is necessary to help that process. The body will heal and sometimes even stronger than before, if you do the rehabilitation work. It’s one of the many things your cells were designed to do. To strengthen and repair. Plantar fasciitis/Foot Pain Post 4️⃣: Arch Strength . . . Disclaimer: I am still working hard on these + need more work! . . Place band just above ankles and bring feet apart. The goal here is to slowly collapse your arch down to the floor with control then squeeze back up. The hard part is doing that without scrunching your toes & keeping your big toe firmly planted on the ground! This is great to learn to control & strengthen the arches! Try 2 sets of 10.

Ok I’ve bragged on this lady before. Because she is so awesome! A few times during my workout this morning I looked over at rachel_kulcsar beasting out her workout and I couldn’t help but grin. She is seriously amazing and shows up for me whenever I need her (like for a 600 am wakeup call) because she knows... she pushes me and inspires me and makes me laugh till my sides ache and I don’t know if we even would have ever become friends (hello I’m an introverted introvert remember! 🙋🏼‍♀️)if I hadn’t asked her to join my accountability group! I wanted to be an encouragement to her but I am pretty sure she encourages me more! Rachel you are my #wcw today lol! Love you lady! . Girls listen up. It’s not easy to stay on track with your goals. It’s not easy to get off to the gym every day or put down the dang cookie and pick up the veggies, it’s not easy to push yourself to drink more water or get on the scale when you feel like you messed it up all weekend. #werisebyliftingothers is about having a tribe to push you. To encourage you. To love you through the crappy parts of life and dance it out on the amazing days. You might think, I don’t need a tribe, I can do this myself, I don’t like talking to strangers....sigh. I used to say all that too. I was wrong. I quit on myself again and again. If I could have done this by myself I would have (INTROVERTED INTROVERT!!!) but some things require accountability! This is one! I’m enrolling 5 new people in our Oct/Nov group and it’s gonna be all sorts of fall fun 🎃 🍁 🍎! How about you post a 🎃 or 🍎 below for some info!
