Ladies, don't get sidelined by videos online that are workouts tailored "for women" This kind of content is so that a company can isolate an audience and force their "new stuff" at them. Women do not need to train their bodies differently to men. Proportionally, they do, obviously there will be a difference in focus of body parts... Male beginners will want big arms, barrel chests and huge V tapers mostly, and female beginners are more focused on lower body training such as glutes, hamstrings and quads. My problem is with people suggesting that the female body will become bulky if trained with weight, or that it requires different stimulus for progression. The only difference in training is that women have a natural disadvantage for growing muscle as a result in their inherent low levels of testosterone. So naturally will hold more body fat and less muscle. As a result of that, the very idea of being scared of becoming bulky with heavy weight is wrong. You won't get a manly physique from lifting weights. Just the same as you won't get an Instagram model physique by doing side hops and crunches like some of these videos suggest. These videos and articles just perpetuate myths that females have to limit what they do and work in strange ways to make progress. The Gym, CMT and anxiety! When I reached the delicate age of 28 I’d really became fed up of not understanding what the doctors were referring to when explaining the effects of CMT on my body. I wanted to get stronger and knew strength training was the way forward but didn’t have a clue and was too afraid to ask for help! I decided to go and do my level 2 in fitness. I passed with flying colours even though I had obstacles in the way I did it. Unfortunately I ended up with the worst boss ever I was constantly told ‘how can you be a pt with a disability’ ‘you couldn’t even go for a run with a client’ I had passion and they knocked it out of me. I now know she was threatened by me. But then it left me empty and frightened of gyms!!! I’m one of thousands people who really need to be in a gym but they can be sooo intimidating for someone who looks well but struggles to even balance with two feet on the floor. I’m so grateful I found pioneerperformance It’s a safe place for me. Safe physically and mentally. I do occasionally need to ask for help because my balance is shocking lifting a heavy bar and walking with it isn’t a good idea for me. I’d just like to thank everyone at pioneerperformance For being patient with me and helping even though your commitment is to your own clients and to sambaconpt For giving me my body back. Your programs are outstanding the best guidance I’ve ever received!! I could kick myself for giving up all those years ago but look forward to the next chapter!!
