Despite being very common birds, I never got tired of seeing the beautiful lilac-breasted rollers flying among the elephants, giraffes, lions, and buffalo in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. Here's some Emu love for the day. Who else thinks it's crazy that birds can get this big? They are the second largest living bird in height after it's relative the ostrich. Dragonflies begin their lives as voracious aquatic larvae called nymphs, living in this form for up to three years. As #nymphs, they prey other #insect aquatic #larvae (like mosquito larvae), young shrimps, fish and tadpoles. When they complete their transformation, they emerge as tenerals, a critical period in their lives, when they are weak and can’t fly well, thus being very exposed to predation. As adults, they live for weeks or months, depending on the weather (and predatation, of course). With that short lifespan as adults, a #dragonfly surely should follow Bhudda’s quote: “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment”. And, certainly, this is something we all should keep in mind. Once the eggs have hatched the first stage in their  lifestyle can begin. At this stage, it is an aquatic larvae, also called 'nymph'. This stage will generally last between one and three years, during which time the larvae will act as a voracious predator of other insect larvae, tadpole and even small fish. Once the larva's transformation is complete, the newly emerged adult will have to wait several hours before its wings dry out and become strong enough to fly. The dragonfly at this stage is called a teneral which is a Latin word meaning tender or soft or delicate. This is a very critical period in the life cycle of the

Terrestrial Molluscs breathe through their moist skin , so they spend their life below the surface, they're required to mate to reproduce and for that they have to come overground and monsoon/rainy season provides this opportunity to them. Clicked this creature using #NikonCoolpixP900 in the morning hours of 13-07-2018 in my backyard. #snail #slug #mollusc #terrestrialmollusc #nature #naturephotography #iamnikon #nikonphotography #wildlife #wildlifephotography #backyardphotography #green #bbcearth #natgeowild #bbcwildlife #natureaddicts #nationalgeographic Please follow my another Instagram account ashokk102_landscape_culture for my posts other than wildlife.
